Late 19th century, a very rare French antique Wall Pocket vase in faience fine, tin-glazed enamel earthenware, in excellent condition. This piece is entirely hand-painted with the highest quality, representing a rooster and wooden fence in relief, in a landscape with a raised butterfly on red/brown grapes. High craftsmanship is observed in the intricate details in relief, hand-painted decoration, and extensive hand gilding in pure gold, particularly on each feather. The background in light green is decorated in black with a tree, extraordinarily painted in an impressionist style with loose brushwork.
All these details give the piece its 3-dimensional feel. Signed Luneville, a French pottery that produced from 1723 to 1981.
This can be a stand-alone wall piece or used as a wall vase to hold flowers or a small plant. Very rare and unique collector's find.
